Monument to Dežo Ursiny

The work is a commemoration of the life and work of the musician, dramaturge, and versatile artist Dezider "Dežo" Ursiny (1947–1995). It is situated within a small park on Fedákova Street in front of house number 24, where Ursiny lived from 1976 until his death.

The monument comprises four tall steel panels that evoke the leaves of a book, and from which it derives its name Leafing. Three of the plates are of polished steel and one is of weathering patinated corten steel.

A smaller, transversely inserted corten steel board bears core data about the artist. On the surfaces and around the perimeters of the boards are CNC-machine-cut inscriptions and information about Dežo the musician and resident of Dúbravka, as well as excerpts from his well-known compositions with lyrics by Ivan Štrpka.

Leafing is set directly into a lawn near a popular beer pub (known colloquially as the Elephant), a playground, and a park that the district is in the process of revitalising. __Since installation of the work, the multi-genre event Remembering Dežo has been held in the park every September as part of the Bratislava Cultural Summer programme.
