Labyrinth

Ján Gejdoš / 2011

The green belt separating the Danube promenade from the River Park buildings features several works of art that form an outdoor gallery. Two of them, Labyrinth and Two Infinities, were created by the sculptor J. Gejdoš and bear his distinctive style.

Labyrinth was crafted from a variety of black granite known as Impala Black. The artwork is oriented vertically and was designed to be viewed from all sides. It comprises a series of rounded, interlocking looped shapes set on a square stone slab that is integrated into a flower bed. The granite has been meticulously finished and polished to a high, mirror-like shine. This renders a dynamic quality to the work, as the light changes throughout the day and the surroundings reflect off the surface. Near to the Labyrinth is an atrium with a walk-through fountain that features coloured lighting.
