The fountain is located in the atrium of the former State Design and Standardisation Institute (ŠPTÚ) building, a project by the architect Ivan Spiška constructed in the early 1970s.  The fountain was erected later, probably at the initiative of, and in collaboration with, the architect Dušan Boháč.  In the context of Imrich Vanek's work, Ceramic Fountain is rather conservative. His other works feature experimentation with vertical water flows down relief walls, as well as variations in basin colours and shapes. 

This fountain has a simple circular basin with a concrete rim and a base inlaid with colourful ceramic tiles. 

The vertically composed ceramic element in the centre comprises several disc-shaped objects with differently coloured glazed surfaces. 

Imrich Vanek used bold colours and structures. The central disc is perforated at regular intervals along its circumference, and water runs down at low pressure. 

The administrative building underwent successful reconstruction in 2023 according to a design by AT26 architects. The project involved a partial change to the building's function, adding apartments and modern park landscaping to the building’s administrative and commercial premises. The architects also redesigned the atrium with new water-permeable walking surfaces and abundant greenery. After cleaning and restoration, the fountain benefits businesses and residents alike, and the atrium, with the fountain and high quality greenery, significantly contributes to natural cooling of the building. 

Note: The fountain is sited in an enclosed atrium. It is accessible only upon request via the main entrance to the building, which is marked with a large sign ‘T67’.
