Strike 2

Jakub Trajter / 2009 – 2010

The steel sculpture depicts a column of yellow cubes at the moment it was impacted by some type of blow or projectile. The lower quarter of the column remains intact, while the upper section comprises a dramatic arc of scattered cubes.

The sculpture is mounted on a tall rectangular pedestal, its anthracite-grey colour emphasising the dynamic composition of yellow cubes. The artist designed the work to be viewed from all angles. It stood for a time on a paved surface in Hviezdoslav Square. Currently, it is stands on the lawn in the inner atrium of the River Park development complex. The longitudinal atrium runs parallel to the Danube promenade, but is not as busy or crowded with sculptures, and Strike 2 stands out as an impressive artistic feature within the atrium’s uncluttered space.
