The stylised figure of a mourning woman on a cuboid pedestal is situated on a lawn in the area of Scattering Meadow. The background of the memorial comprises precipices of cut stone, originally a quarry, that the architect ingeniously incorporated into the project - sharp, rough stone walls contrast with the delicate, soft form of the mourning figure. Collaboration between the architect and sculptor has brought an atmosphere of intimacy and quiet reflection to the space.
The foreground of Scattering Meadow encompasses an elegant circular space with benches and concrete pedestals for the placing of flowers and candles. The austerity and dignity of the bronze statue and its surroundings have been compromised in recent years, however, by a disproportionate number of garish candle burners, plastic wreaths, and a makeshift storage structure.
The work is registered in the Central List of Monuments of Monuments Board under the number 11436/X.
