Carved wooden column

A carved wooden column – sculpture – is located on a grass slope between the entrance to the complex and the main Crematorium building. The verticality of the column contrasts with the horizontal lines of the crematorium site and with the longitudinal contour arrangement of the complex.

Vladimír Kompánek's iconic work combines anthropomorphic shapes and details inspired by folk architecture within a modern sculptural approach.

The column resembles a totem pole, and forms a welcoming figure, spirit, and landmark for visitors to the complex.

The work is registered in the Central List of Monuments of Monuments Board under the number 11436/4.

Research status as of 15. 11. 2022.
