Nataša Fountain

Pavel Mikšík / 1972 – 1974

The Marta and Nataša fountains complement the green spaces on each side of the entrance to the Palace of Justice on Záhradnícka Street. The building was constructed between 1937 and 1938 to a design by the architects Alexander Skutecký and Vojtech Holesch as a replacement for the old prison. Both fountains have a circular basin with natural-stone clad rim and a concrete floor. Metal pipes along the inner circumference of each basin spray arcs of water to the middle.

At the centre of each basin stands a four-part non-figurative sculpture made of stainless steel. The sculptor’s highly abstract expression evokes a water lily, a nozzle in the middle of which emits jets of water.

The fountains were created between 1972 and 1974 by the Bratislava architect and sculptor Pavel Mikšík.
