Betty Gold / 2002

The abstract sculpture set on grassy terrain in the park on Belopotockého Street attracts attention with its atypical irregular shape and distinctive yellow colouring. It is composed of welded steel sheets angled in various directions. The shape is reminiscent of origami. Stylised initials of the artist Betty Gold (BG) appear at the foot of the object. It is mounted on a metal base that bears a smaller plaque with the artist's name and the title and date of the work.

The United States Embassy commissioned the sculpture from the American artist Betty Gold as a gift to be placed in the Presidential Garden. After its installation in 2002, the work was presented at the seventh annual international exhibition Sculpture and Object. However, the following year attempts were made to relocate the sculpture to a new location. The final decision to move it to Belopotocký Park was taken in 2017, and the work has remained part of the park ever since.
