The metal sculpture stands as a landmark in front of the entrance to the dental clinic on Heydukova Street. The designer of the building and artwork was the architect J. Rajchl, who was also a painter and sculptor. He was one of the founding members of the Czech Association in Bratislava and a member of the Slovak Art Forum (UBS). As an architect, he worked at Stavoprojekt from 1951 to 1966, and at Zdravoprojekt Bratislava from 1966 to 1991.
He designed many healthcare buildings in Slovakia, beginning with the Secondary Medical School of Dietetics on Záhradnícka Street in Bratislava. He was also a member of the team of architects that designed the hospital and polyclinic in Kramáre, concluding his work in Bratislava with design of Orthopedic Prosthetics on Záhradnícka Street.
The artwork on Heydukova Street symbolically references the function of the building. It comprises three metal strips that slightly curve to form arches, and serrated edges that evoke the human mouth and teeth.
In addition to artistic design of the dental clinic, Rajchl also created the artwork on the façade of the neighbouring St Elizabeth Cancer Institute at 10 Heydukova Street. The healthcare facilities at 8 and 10 Heydukova Street form a connected building complex.
