Commemorative plaque with a bust of Miloš Ruppeldt

Professor Miloš Ruppeldt (1881–1943) was a Slovak composer, folk song collector, conductor, translator, and an organiser of musical life in Slovakia. He was the founder of the Association of Slovak Artists and of the Slovak Philharmonic Society, as well as the first conductor of the Slovak Teachers' Choir and a co-founder of Slovak radio broadcasting.

A commemorative plaque honouring him is mounted on a building that long served as the home of the primary art school (ZUŠ). It comprises an inscribed plaque and a separate bust. The plaque, formed of a simple rectangle, is inscribed: THE FOUNDER OF THE MUSIC SCHOOL FOR SLOVAKIA, PROF. MILOŠ RUPPELDT, WORKED IN THIS BUILDING FROM 1934 TO 1936.

Mounted above the plaque is the bronze bust depicting Professor Ruppeldt.

The plaque was unveiled on 6 December 1969. In 2006, the inscription plate was stolen; it was replaced with a replica one year later.
